Bowery Lane

With every new bite, the Mongolian would grunt and nod solemnly with approval. Even as I am writing this post now, he reminds to me to say that this place has his stamp of approval. So…I guess the Mongolian really likes Bowery Lane!

I liked it too. I thought all the dishes we ordered came together really well, and what really impressed me was how fresh everything tasted. Serving size was another plus, especially the snacks and entrees. We definitely over-ordered, solely because we underestimated the size of those starters, but we enjoyed every gluttonous bite.

Char grilled lamb ribs with chimmi churri and rocket. The meat was so tender it was falling off the bone. Although it was fatty, it wasn't greasy, probably helped along by the herby sauce.

Confit duck salad - french beans, lardons, confit. The Mongolian really enjoyed this, the duck meat was tender and the lardons added a nice salty dimension.

Tempura soft shell crab burger with asian slaw and miso mayonaise. The crab was large with a tasty batter. The slaw was fantastic, I felt I could taste every individual element of that salad, and its freshness really cut through the oiliness of the fried crab and that buttery and sweet. Only thing was i wasn't sure about was why the mayo was served on the side...how am I meant to get it into the burger...? It was a good sauce for the Mongolian's fries though (below)

The cross-section of the juicy burger. Mmmmm can you say yum?
Baby cos, peas, beans and mint salad. So fresh! With the first bite, the mint gave it a refreshing kick. A good choice to balance out the heaviness of the rest of the meal.
Baby cos, peas, beans and mint salad. On the first bite, the first thing that sang to me was that refreshing mint flavour. Throughout the meal I kept coming back to this salad because it was so fresh (once again fresh beans and peas!)  and was a good balance to the heaviness of the rest of the meal.
